Is Control.dev an Anaplan alternative?

For planning across finance, sales, supply chain and workforce at enterprise scale, no: Anaplan is built for that3, and it says more than 2,800 of the world’s biggest brands use it9. Control.dev is younger and smaller, founded in 2024.
What do setup and later changes cost?
With Control.dev, our team sets you up with no setup fee, and most companies have live data in under two hours. Later changes to a mapping, a layout or a dashboard are made by your team or its AI client, with no consultants to pay. Anaplan’s agreement places implementation, training and consulting in a statement of work separate from the subscription11, and help with building models or formulas may cost extra12. Its prebuilt applications can be live in as soon as nine weeks13. Control.dev publishes its monthly prices, excluding VAT: EUR 249 for one entity and one integration, EUR 499 for consolidation with three integrations and EUR 999 with five, where a Stripe connection counts as one integration, with no implementation fee, no multi-year contract and a notice period from one month.
Can Claude or ChatGPT work on our numbers?
Anaplan’s AI Gateway connects assistants such as Claude and Gemini over MCP, with existing permissions and read-only controls4. Who can change the numbers in Control.dev?
The ledgers stay the books of record: Control.dev reads them with read-only access by default, and write-back is off unless turned on, and then posts only drafts an Owner or Admin approved. A locked budget version refuses every write, and an AI client gets at most the access the user’s role allows, so a read-only session cannot write at all.
Can budget owners plan their own lines?
Not in Control.dev yet. Budget-owner access, where a cost-centre owner sees and budgets only their own lines, is in testing and not yet live. Until then, the finance team plans the budget, and an AI client can draft values with a reason on each.
Where is the data stored and processed?
Control.dev’s data is hosted on Google Cloud in Hamina, Finland, encrypted in transit and at rest, and Control.dev’s own AI features process data in the EU. An AI client you connect over MCP processes what it reads under your agreement with its provider. Finata Oy’s security management is ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified.
